The kingdom of heaven is like unto leaven, which a woman took, and hid in three measures of meal, till it was all leavened. In Oriental housekeeping, yeast is not preserved in a separate form. A piece of leavened dough saved over from the last baking is added to the new dough to ferment it. Three measures contained the quantity usually taken for one baking. Leaven represents the quickness, quietness, thoroughness, and sureness with which gospel truth diffuses itself through human society. A woman is named because baking was part of her household duty.
Hey this is Kaylee- Maybe I could do the parable of the talents for extra credit?
Ya sure go ahead!
Parable of the Net-
Once again the kingdom of heaven is like a net that was thrown in a lake and when pulled up had many fish in it. When the fishermen pulled it up on the shore they collected all the good fish and threw the bad fish away. This is how it will be the end of the age. The angles will come and seperate all of the wicked and the righteous and throw them into the firey fernance.
This parable means something different to some people than it does to others. Some people think that it is talking about how you shouldn't waste your talents. In a different translation, the word talent is used instead of bags of gold. A talent or a bag of gold was worth a lot back them. Some people think that it was the total amount of money that people would make. The men who multiplied what they had got many rewards.
Other people think that this parable is talking about using the talents that God gave you. If you act like the men who used there talents, they obtained even more, or they found talents that they never knew that they had. If you act like the man who buried his talents, you will never know what talents you have.
Other people think that this parable is talking about how we should do stuff for God. God wants us to do our best for him. The one man did his best and multiplied his possessions. The other man did the same. The last servant didn't do his best for God. He was lazy, and scared to do anything. If we act like the first two servants, we will multiply our heavenly possessions
