2011 BCA-STJ Collaborative Project
"The Kingdom of Heaven is Like..."
or "Can I remix that?"
Your goals are:
mrsdurff and Mr. Jacklin will not be the only ones who will evaluate your performance on this project. Each student will also fill out an evaluation on how they felt their group worked together, how each group member contributed, and how they think their final product came out.
"The Kingdom of Heaven is Like..."
or "Can I remix that?"

- The due date is May 13, 2011 .Write that in your planners NOW.
- Put on your best behavior. If someone leaves you a constructive comment that sounds sarcastic or mean, don't assume the worst! Take it for what it's worth and move on.
- Set up page notifications so you are able to keep up with the changes that are made to your groups wiki pages. This is why you use RSS !
Project Goals
As Christians, one of our goals is to show Jesus' love to everyone we meet! In essence, show the world what the "Kingdom of Heaven" is like. Jesus described God's love for using "Kingdom Parables" in the book of Matthew.Your goals are:
- Become familiar enough with the main ideas of Jesus' kingdom parables, that you could retell the ancient parables in a 21st century scenario and voice;
- Work collaboratively with partners using Internet tools to complete your parable;
- Choose a medium to convey your kingdom parables meaning;
- Incorporate some type of media (video, audio, student created images, etc.) in your retelling.
Student Work
- Join the bca-stj.wikispaces.com wiki site.
- Using the tool Edmodo, get to know the members of your your group (). The Edmodo group is BCA-STJ and the group code is hwkd9r .
- On the "Student Groups" page, create another wiki page as a group workspace where you will communicate with your partners in the discussion tab and collaborate on ideas. Also, please edit the "Navigation Bar" to include your group name and a link to your page.
- The group work page will be a place to capture your learning about the Kingdom parables and begin brainstorming and planning your modern retelling.
- Read and research the "Kingdom Parables" of Jesus in the Book of Matthew. Pick three of the parables to focus on and learn about ("focus on and learn about" means that the group has discussed and dissected its meaning and how it fits into the themes of the other two parables your group choose to work on). Refer to the bottom of the "Kingdom Parables" page for instructions on how to choose your parables.
- Re-write all three of the parables so that a teenager in 2011 would understand what Jesus is trying to convey. Write your retelling using Etherpad, Zoho Writer, or Google Docs. Then copy n' paste onto the wiki page you created.
- Choose one of the your parable retellings to create an "artifact" about. Create your artifact by using of the following tools to convey your parable retelling : ToonDoo, Glogster, VoiceThread, SlideShare, Podomatic Xtranormal (posted to the BCA Technology podcast channel), Kerpoof, or a Video uploaded to Vimeo (contact mrsdurff). If you would like to use another online tool not mentioned above, touch base with mrsdurff or Mr. Jacklin in the discussion on this page so we can discuss it. We are pretty open-minded!
- Your final and completed project must be embedded and clearly marked on your groups wiki page. DO NOT CREATE YOUR OWN WIKI SITES! Create wiki pages on this site, because as teachers, we do not have adds.
